Since we live here in Bali and experience all of the seasons we are going to break it all down for you. We’ll cover the Bali weather by month as well as other considerations that will help you decide the best time to visit.
Bali Weather by Month
When it comes to deciding when the best time is to go to Bali one of the first things to consider is the weather. Bali sits just a few degrees south of the equator so it has a tropical monsoon climate with two seasons! What can you expect each month? Let’s take a look.
Bali Weather in January
January is right in the middle of the rainy season here in Bali. It’s more probable than not that tropical rains will be a part of your experience if you visit in January.
Typically you will see some sort of precipitation every day since January is considered the wettest month of the year with 14 inches of rainfall. Often though it rains for a couple of hours and then the sun comes out but it is not out of the question that it could rain for a couple of days straight.
However, all is not lost. When the rains come the tropical vegetation thrives and becomes a lush pallet of greens.
The average temperature is around 82 degrees Fahrenheit, but it can get as high as 86 degrees. The low temperatures in Bali will average around 72 degrees. The humidity is also high, so it can be quite uncomfortable to be outside for long periods.
Don’t let the clouds fool you, the sun is still very hot this time of year so make sure to pack sunscreen.
Bali Weather in February
February weather in Bali is very similar to January. You can expect a lot of rain, high humidity, and hot temperatures.
The average temperature is still around 82 degrees Fahrenheit but it can get as high as 86 degrees. The low temperatures will continue to stay around 72 degrees.
The rainfall average in February is about 11 inches and usually comes in the form of short tropical showers that last anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours. However, it is not uncommon to have a day or two of continuous rain.
Just like in January, the rains make the vegetation here flourish so everything is lush and green. If you don’t mind getting wet, February can be a beautiful month to visit Bali.
Bali Weather in March
March is still the rainy season in Bali but things are brightening up. You will start to see fewer showers as the month goes on. The average precipitation for the month is around 8.5 inches but this is spread out over 21 days so it’s not continuous rain by any means.

The average temperature in Bali during March is around 80 degrees Fahrenheit but it can get as high as 87 degrees. The humidity continues to be high but not quite as bad as the previous two months.
March is a good month to visit Bali if you want to avoid the crowds but still want to experience some rain. By the end of the month, the rains will start to taper off and you’ll have more sunny days.

April is the beginning of the dry season in Bali and the weather starts to improve. The rains become less frequent and the days are sunnier.
You can still expect some precipitation but it will be lighter than in previous months. The average rainfall for April is around 5 inches.
The temperatures also start to become more bearable. The average temperature in April is around 83 degrees Fahrenheit but it can get as high as 86 degrees.
The humidity starts to go down as well and is much more comfortable than it has been the past few months.
April is a good month to visit Bali if you want to experience some rain but not as much as in the peak of the rainy season.

May is the beginning of the shoulder season in Bali. The rains are even less frequent than in April and the weather is beautiful. You can expect sunny days with the occasional shower. The average rainfall for May is around 10 inches.
The temperatures are still quite warm in May. The average temperature is around 82 degrees Fahrenheit but it can get as high as 85 degrees. The humidity is still going down and is quite comfortable.
May is a good month to visit Bali if you want to avoid the crowds but still want nice weather.

June is the beginning of the high season in Bali. The rains are even less frequent than in May and the weather is beautiful. You can expect sunny days with the occasional shower. The average rainfall for June is around 8 inches.

The temperatures are still quite warm in July. The average temperature is around 79 degrees Fahrenheit but it can get as high as 83 degrees. The humidity is low and comfortable.
July is a good month to visit Bali if you are ok to sacrifice being with the crowds to experience some of the nicest weather.

August is the peak of the high season in Bali. The rains are even less frequent than in July and the weather is beautiful. You can expect sunny days with the occasional shower. The average rainfall for August is around 4 inches.
The temperatures are still quite warm in August. The average temperature is around 80 degrees Fahrenheit but it can get as high as 84 degrees. The humidity is at its lowest point of the year.
August is a good month to visit Bali if you want to almost guarantee nice weather and take advantage of the crowds starting to die down toward the end of the month.

September is the beginning of the shoulder season in Bali. The rains are a bit more frequent than in August but the weather is still beautiful. You can expect sunny days with the occasional shower. The average rainfall for September is around 6 inches.

The temperatures start to heat up a bit in September. The average temperature is around 81 degrees Fahrenheit but it can get as high as 85 degrees. The humidity starts to go up and becomes much more sticky than in the past few months.
September is a good month to visit Bali if you want to take advantage of the quieter time on the island but still benefit from the good weather.

October is the beginning of the wet season in Bali. The rains are a bit more frequent than in September but the weather is still beautiful. You can expect sunny days with the occasional shower. The average rainfall for October is around 8 inches.

December is the most popular month in the wet season because of the holiday time off. Not the best month to visit Bali because of the higher temperatures and strong rainfall. Plus, if you are hoping for cheaper rates on hotels you may want to reconsider since the demand in December is high.
Worst Time to Travel to Bali
The worst time to travel to Bali if you’re looking to soak in the sun at the beach is during the wet season which is from November to March. The weather is not as nice and the rains are more frequent.
The humidity is also quite high which can make it uncomfortable to stay outdoors for long periods. If you are looking for cheaper rates on hotels, this may be the time to visit but keep in mind that the demand is high in December.

However, if you don’t mind the rain and want to experience Bali in the greens then the wet season may be your jam.
Cheapest Time to Visit Bali
The cheapest time to visit Bali is during the wet season as we touched on above. The rates for hotels and flights are lower because the demand is not as high (with exception of December). You can also find some good deals on activities since there are not as many people on the island.
Keep in mind that the weather is not as nice during this time so if you’re looking to take advantage of the beaches, you may want to visit during the shoulder or high season.
Best Time to Visit Bali
The best time to visit Bali is during the shoulder season which is from April to June and late August to October. The weather is beautiful with sunny days and cool breezes. The rates for hotels are cheaper than during the high season but not as low as in the wet season. You can also find some good deals on activities.
What is the Rainy Season in Bali?
The rainy season in Bali is from October through March. You can expect more frequent showers and fewer sunny days. The humidity and the temperatures are also high during this time.
If you’re looking to visit Bali on a budget, this may be the time to do it. Just keep in mind that the weather is not as nice and that the demand for hotels is high in December.
